The Laud is a traditional Filipino instrument played in an ensemble called a Rondalla together with the Octavina, Bandurria, and Double Bass. Our laud comes in 14-strings and tuned F#-B-B-E-E-A-A-A-D-D-D-G-G-G from 14th to 1st string.
This Philippine Laud features the 14-string variant with the strings passing through a glued-on bridge from the tailpiece.
Mahogany is a popular tonewood choice due to its warm and balanced tone, with a strong midrange and a clear, articulate high end. It provides a rich, full sound with a natural, woody character that is well-suited for a variety of playing styles, from strumming to fingerpicking.
